Sun City

Pilanesberg Nature Reserve
The Pilanesberg National Park is the fourth largest nature reserve in southern Africa, covering some 55 000 hectares. This wonderful malaria-free park sits on the remains of an alkaline volcanic crater, one of just three in the entire world. The national park’s history sets it apart from its fellow parks of South Africa, with a rugged landscape, luscious valleys and gorgeous area for dwelling for thousands of years. Before it was declared as a reserve in 1979, the park was degraded and its indigenous wildlife population depleted, a consequence of the considerably intense activity of the commercial farmers. Bergheim Hiking Trail
The Bergheim Hiking Trail offers you a few options for directions. You could either hike with someone who is familiar with the route or follow the general direction (the resort might be able to provide you with GPS co-ordinates. One of several deep gorges in the Magaliesberg is Fernkloof while the rest are Castle Gorge, Dome, Grootkloof, Tonquani and Trident. The trail is a popular attraction for climbers due to its sport climbing area, where you can test yourself with fully bolted climbs with 20 routes of various difficulties, however, no beginner climbs are available. Magaliesberg Biosphere
The Magaliesberg Biosphere is the result of an intensive effort of a small group of committed environmentalists, which took as long as nearly 10 years to have this world biosphere reserve declared. UNESCO formerly registered the biosphere in October 2015, raising the total of biosphere reserves in South Africa to 8, out of 651 biosphere reserves in 119 countries throughout the world. Magaliesberg Canopy Tours
Enjoy this exceptional eco-adventure in the ancient Magaliesberg Mountains, with the Magaliesberg Canopy Tours, which takes you on a 2,5 hour tour along the breathtaking Ysterhout Kloof.
