Race to the Sun MTB in North West Province

The inaugural Race to the Sun mountain bike race will showcase some of the picture perfect landscapes of the North West province, while also providing a share of challenges across rough gravel terrain, mud pools and motorways.

The Race to the Sun MTB race will be taking place on Saturday, the 4th August from 7 am to 2 pm. This grand adventure is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the surroundings and cycle the open road at your own pace, or even alongside a friend. Spend time preparing for this lengthy 160 kilometre ride and come prepared, ready to put your technical skills to good use, finishing off strong and making amazing memories.

Discover the most striking natural assets of this South African province through this mountain biking race, which presents a great opportunity for fitness enthusiasts. The Race to the Sun mountain bike race starts its course at the beautiful Hartbeespoort Dam and concludes at Sun City Resort, where families and friends can enjoy a variety of adventures and enjoy wonderful holiday moments. As with any epic and physically demanding adventure, this highly anticipated race will include four major stops along the way. During the race, riders will pass canals, farm roads and a few water & spectator points.

Both mountain bikes and gravel road bikes are allowed to be used for the event, and it is compulsory for each rider to have a functional GPS device. Entries for solo rides, team rides and relay rides are available and can already be booked.
